Re:  Foodie place in NYC.  My favorite is Vong wonderful Thai/French Fusion 
by world class chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.  I love their starter menage 
cinq w/lobster eggrolls, etc.  The dessert menage atois is orgasmic!  *smile* 
And I don't even like desserts.  White pepper ice cream---yummmmmm.  Another 
great restaurant is The China Grill which is Chinese Fusion.  Everything is 
served to share!  Another restaurant same owner that is wonderful is Cuba de 
Asia, great atmosphere, especially seated upstairs on the edge of the atrium 
effect.  You look down on diners along a very long glass underlit table.  
Very chic-chic.  Their towering starters are terrific.  These are all located 
midtown.  Hope this helps.
