That's one reason I got them - they give off more heat than a flourescent.
And they've chains so that I can move them up away from the plants as the
plants get taller.

Maybe. But I don't use much electricity anyway. And what's a bit more money
when getting seedlings started? I've already forked out $20 bucks for the
light when I could have gotten a $8.00 (+/-) flourescent set-up. A little bit
more's not gonna hurt.

Valid concerns, Chuck. And good points. But, again, I want the heat. Doing
my best to approximate Mom Nature. I will have to be more diligent in
watching for drying out o'the medium, having the light too close as the
seedlings emerge... Stuff like that. But thass otay.

Oh! I bet you're thinking maybe of halides? These aren't the big
cone-thingys... And there was one on display... There was more heat coming
off the halogen (vs. the fluourescent shop lites), but even putting my hand
close to it, it wasn't as hot as the halogen lamp I've got. The box says,
"Safe - cooling channels reduce heat."

Yeah, I think this will work. Ittiz twice as brite as a flourescent, and I've
warmth, too. Guess we'll see... Stay tuned... I may be the first 'Head to
grow already dried chiles!
