CHs-
In view of all the watering discussions, I have another method. My
poor-boy greenhouse garden is equipped with a hose that winds through
each row. At each plant I poked a hole in the hose, directed upstream,
with an ice pick and stuck in a small (1/16th in. inside diameter)
plastic tube. The tubes came from ice cream push-ups the kids favor.
The tubes, being hard plastic, keep the holes open. The male end of the
hose goes in a 5 gallon bucket used to water potted plants. Each plant
has a trench around it to conserve water (we are in Phase 2 rationing),
so I have timed the necessary cycle to fill each trench. I have only to
attach the hose to the water and turn it on a quarter turn for 15
minutes. After 15 minutes, all the plants are watered and the bucket is
full. It's worked great now for over a year.
