Howdy 'heads -- I'd like to thank everyone for all the suggestions of places to eat, etc. in New Mexico. Especially Chilehead Ruth, whom I got to meet over a margarita and brought me a lovely gift, and Polly, whom I just missed by one day in Taos.... I was not disappointed in the food, although this Southern girl had more than her fill of beans and spanish rice. Tomasita's was wonderful - we were there for lunch the day the high school graduated, and it was full of local families all dressed up. We also enjoyed the Blue Corn Cafe, El Farol, ceviche at the LaFonda Inn bar, and a sandwich (I forget what was inside! ) on green chile foccachia at a deli in Sambusco Center. The Palace Italian restaurant made for a good night off, since my Mom was threatening me by then. There were chiles everywhere....it was like a dream. She thought I was crazy when I bought cans of Hatch green chiles in the grocery store, but I've yet to find them in Atlanta (FYI they weigh a lot in your suitcase). I also highly recommend the flea market -- there were great buys all around, but especially on chile powders, much cheaper than what I found in the shops. So once again, thanks everyone! Don't hesitate to ask if you're coming to Atlanta (although I can't promise much). Sarah
