I'm bringing this to the Pacific Northwest Hotluck Saturday: Habenero Ice Cream 2 pints Half & Half cream 6 whole cardamoms 1/2 cup water 1 cup sugar 4 Tablespoons cornstarch Juice from 1 lemon Juice from 1 tangerine 4 saffron threads 4 habenero peppers, seeded and chopped 1 ripe mango, peeled and mashed Heat Half & Half with cardamoms till nearly boiling. Do not scald. Let cool completely--at least four hours. Mix water, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, tangerine juice. Bring to boiling and let simmer until it begins to thicken. Add saffron threads, and let cool completely. Remove cardamoms from half & half. Mix into the saffron mixture. Add habenero peppers and mango pulp and place in freezer. Whip every couple of hours, until desired consistency. Gotta love it! Hope I see some of you nuts there!
