Agreed. Except that I am barely of the moderate persuasion I have found grocery that has a few interesting speciality items. I am living in Louisville, went bargain/ couponing w/my neighbor at Mejiers and found at least your BCH favorite Dave's Insanity. There were a few others I have seen mentioned here and many more I have not. As far as Hot goes I find Pace Picante medium somewhere in my realm although the taste has no imagination I am afraid. The last time I tried their HOT salsa it was a bit too hot for me.(years ago) tonight I chose Frog Ranch Salsa HOT (Kroger is almost in my parking lot). It is okay, well not bad- not sweet. put it in the fridge will try again when chilled.can taste the big chunks of peppers. not bad. It says *..is a tantalizing combination of freshest tomatoes, onions, special seasonings, & plenty of Frog Ranch Hungarian & Jalapeno Peppers. (those are Hot?) this zesty salsa goes great on eggs (It would) sandwiches, tortillas, & adds excitement(?) to pasta sauces (??) salads, and parties! OTOH I still favor tabasco on my homemade tacos, the Hot Italian sausage by Kroger is too hot for my husband (though when hungry he eats around it). And my all time favorite junk food, that won out tonight with absolutely no heat whatsoever though they tried to say Jalapeno flavored for a while, is Frito-Lay Original Bean dip. it has those peppers in it way after spices couldn't ever tell but get a can or two 2-3 times a year for GP. --leslie > This does not suprise me one bit, I am yet to find a mainstream grocery item that has any decent heat at all! I just bought a pack of Aidell's "Habanero & Green Chile" Sausage. NO HEAT AT ALL???!!?? Who would put out a habanero product with absolutely no heat? The mention of habanero peppers scares off most non-CH's. Then no heat, No self-respecting CH would ever buy a second pack! At least they had decent flavor, so I scrambled them with eggs and loaded on the Hot Sauce! > > Ron.
