Folks, I must report that my 4-year-old Red Savina Habanero is alive and KICKING. It is a bush about a yard in diameter and 4 feet high. The first few of the nearly 4 dozen, just-smaller-than golfball-sized chiles have ripened. I had my first fresh hab of the season tonight. I think its going to be a good year. In a few weeks, I'll have to start pinching off the blooms to reduce the fruit load. Have to try to get everything ripened before I bring it in for the winter. BTW, does anybody know how big Mirasol chiles are supposed to get? This is the first year I've grown them. I thought they would be the size of the tip of your little finger, like Thai's. These chiles, however, are up to 3.5 inches long and bigger around at the base than my thumb. They look like they should dry and string in a ristra pretty well. Take care.
