For anyone who has never heard of this, an earthbox is a plastic container which has a plastic grid that divides the bottom one third from the top two thirds. Soil goes into the top, water is put into the bottom by means of a tube which extends out of the top of the box. There is a plastic cloth that fits over the top of the box. Prior to putting that cloth cover on, fertilizer is sprinkled on top of the soil. The cover goes on, the gardener cuts several slits in the cloth through which the young plants are planted into the soil. The theory is that water is moved up into the soil from the reservoir, which the plants take up. The box is protected from weeds by the cloth cover which also insulates the soil. The water reservoir in the bottom of the box is easily refilled by the tube and the plants thrive. Whoever wrote the first note about earthboxes mentioned a URL but I don't remember it. I've grown plants in other containers but this is the most complete package I've come across. Carol
