That may be one of the mechanisms for long term pain management, the killing of pain receptors, although increased tolerance is probably the main mechanism. In light of that the idea of pure or nearly pure capsaicin causing blisters makes sense--the cells get flooded with Ca ions, die, and the immune system (complement cascade, I tink) kicks in causing blisters. I've definitely seen warnings/comments about it, but never experienced it myself. Of course this isn't an authoritative answer, but I like see if I can type, sometimes. Riley
