Too bad they didn't make it to the Bowers fest, that would have been an eye opener to the uninitiated. One thing that I think ought to be emphasized is the role that the internet in general and the Chileheads list in particular in introducing all these folks to each other. I've seen a Hotluck covered by local TV news and a BBQ mailing list annual event covered by a local PBS station, and in both cases any mention of the mailing lists or internet ended up on the cutting room floor. It was left with the feeling that it was just a regular old gathering of folks who liked hot food. No mention of the comeraderie or reasons that folks who might otherwise be strangers were driving hundreds of miles to assault their tastebuds! Lets remember, without the Chileheads list it is unlikely that any of us would have ever met, much less attend each others Hotlucks. I understand this same crew will be doing a segment on Jim Campbell also. I'd like to express the same comments to him regarding the Chileheads list, not to mention stories of the "Bread" being sent to Hotlucks across the country in recent years!
