Just back from a quickie trip to D.C. Close brush with "Gordon"...lots of rain in the Carolinas, Georgia and northern Florida. Despite the short length of the visit, we did manage to hit a few "hot spots:" Mi Rancho....very nice little Mexican restaurant in downtown Silver Spring, MD. We ate outdoors. It was very pleasant....and the food was well-prepared! The salsa was fresh and quite hot! Bombay Gaylord (Indian).....Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. We had the luncheon buffet. Very good and a good value. Two of us ate for under $20. Irene's Pupusas (Salvadorean)...University Blvd., Wheaton....my first experience with pupusas, Salvadorean "turnovers." Rita had chicken, I had "mixto" (everything!). We were sitting where we could watch "Irene" in the kitchen, mixing the dough, by the old-world method, kneading it by hand, adding cans of water until it reached the right consistency. On the counter were "no-name" red hot sauce and green "jalapeno" sauce. I opted for my favorite: XXX-tra hot Mayan Style El Yucateco. Tab: pupusas and sodas...under $5!! Afterward we went around the corner to a small Salvadorean grocery store, where I found an El Yucateco sauce I had not seen before. "Caribbean Style....Habanero Hot Sauce." (You'd better hurry, Randy, if you want to taste this one!). Regards from the beach, Myron -- .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:.
