When I was a kid we would almost always have a bottle of Tabasco that had been in the cabinet so long that it would be brown. Whenever we would get a fresh red one, it looked strange until it got old enough to look more like what we were used to. These days my folks have a few different sauces around, and I try to keep them fresh, and keep presenting them with new types.
