Lord,
My own experience has been that they'll last over a year (smoked and dried to 
leather stage) and I keep mine hanging in the storage room in recycled red 
mesh 10# bags that used to contain my supply of Vidalia onions.  They'll 
probably store longer, but I usually use them up in that much time.
I've had a few get mouldy around the shoulders, but not enough of them to be 
significant.
