Any ideas would be appreciated. I haven't done much St. Louuis dining other than Casa Gallardo (local chain and decent). I think you are looking for Soulard District (pronounced sue-lard). Lots of pretty good places in St. Louis. But, the best is Super Smokers located about 45 minutes out of town on the Illinois side of the river or towards Six Flags on the Missouri side. They are World BBQ champs in (I think) Pork. Excellent stuff. While in Springfield try to get to the Golden Dragon at 5th & N. GRand Ave. Their hot & sour soup isn't quite as good as that at Tai Pan. But their honey-spicy chicken is to kill for. Very tasty with a subtle heat that builds on you. Portions are huge - so come hungry.
