Actually, most of the ones you listed ARE different chiles, not just different names. Chilipeno- is a hybrid jalapeno that is absolutley HUGE. I grew these last year and am grwoing them again this year. There is no mistaking them for an ordinary jalapeno. Chilitepen (chiltepin)- is another name for the fiery Tepin. I grew these last year as well and will have them planted for the open fields this fall. Chilipiquin- is another name for Pequin (Piquin). It bears no resemblance to any of the others. At the risk of being repetitive, this is another that I grew last year and will be present again this year. New mex 6-4, Big Jim, and Joe Parker are all types of new Mexicans, but they are all different. Parker is the hottest, Big Jim the largest, and 6-4 one of the most common. I've grown all of these as well. Sorry that this probably wasn't much help to you, but it gives you an idea of just how many differing types of chiles there are! -Jim C Mild to Wild
