I'll just add two comments to Cameron's excellent advice: 1. Do not try to start your seeds in a sunny window sill. The diurnal (day-night) temperatures will be too great for decent germination. If you don't have a heating pad (highly recommended) try the top of the fridge. 2. If your water comes from a well (as mine does), add a small amount of 5.25% chlorine bleach to it (1 tsp/quart-1 tbsp/gallon) and let it set till the chlorine smell goes away before watering. This will ensure that you aren't accidently adding any critters to your otherwise sterile seed starting mix. Once the seeds have a couple of true leaves and are past the "damping off" stage, you can discontinue the bleach treatment. > 6 - Other stuff I've forgotten, but I'm sure the other CH's will > offer plenty of advice.
