ARS News Service Agricultural Research Service, USDA March 15, 2001 Jan Suszkiw, (301) 504-1630, jsuszkiw@ars.usda.gov ___________________________________________ MycoLogics is doing so under an agreement with ARS's Southern Regional Research Center in New Orleans, La., according to Anthony DeLucca, a microbiologist there. He and chemists John Bland and Craig Vigo discovered CAY-1 during research to identify plant compounds that could be used as crop protectants against spoilage microorganisms such as Aspergillus fungi, which make aflatoxins. ------------------------ Interesting as I have a 40 page report on C drive in PDF that was done in Australia (april 2000 ), by the Rural Industries Reaserch and Development Corporation. It mentions that: Chile Products in Australia suffer from widespread Aflatoxin contamination (processing controls that limit). only 9% of samples complied with the maximum levels as allowed in Australia of 5ug/kg, with mean levels of samples varying from 19ug/kg to 89ug/kg.. I think that it was done from samples of Chile Powder and products imported into Australia. . Always take a good look at what you're about to eat. It's not so important to know what it is, but it's good to know what it was. - ~ From "Cowboy Wisdom" ~ Thanks to Rocking Randy in Atlanta.
