Recently, after putting up three levels of scaffolding by myself, I discovered I was no longer 18, but 37 years old. My right shoulder was just sprained and pulled all to hell. For relief, I started with ibuprofen. Then ibuprofen and aspirin. Nothing. Then, I tried some neat little antiinflammatory drugs called Ultram. I took the max dose. No relief. Flex-all 454 may work for Joe Namath, but not me. Finally, after walking around like Bob Dole for a week, I remembered and tried a product called Capzaisin-HP, a chile pepper based external rub. Not the kind you eat, but massage in. When my shoulder began to heat up like it was freshly sunburned, I knew I was onto something! I knew that feeling--it was the same as that I received eating my first few serranos in Jim's Holy Field last October. And, withing minutes, I began to feel something strangely familiar--ENDORPHENS! Yes, I was getting pain relief in my shoulder, and I was getting "chile buzz" in my head! I had a monkey on my shoulder, and wanted more... That night, I gave myself a good coating of the rub goo on the shoulder, and went to bed. The next morning, thank El Grande, I was healed of my pain. I could raise my hand high over my head, I could get dressed without howling like Chewbacca. Oh, happy day!! So, yes, I will sing the praises of Capzaisin-HP. Once again, chiles save the day. (btw, no affiliation, no royalties paid) George, no longer a forced lefty. ps: What they say about washing your hands after application is true. It is like handling real chiles, and subsequently you will have a fiery residue on your hands that will burn your eyes, mucus membranes, and nether regions just as scorchingly.
