>I read in a magazine that a natural way to keep pepper pests away is the >presence of thyme. Pardon me if the spelling is wrong but I read that it >keeps those green little buggers away. So I planted a bunch of seeds and >have a big tray of thyme waiting to be transplanted. I hope it works. Any >insights? Not sure on it's bug-fighting properties - mine got just as clobbered by the slugs as the hostas. But, don't put it somewhere where it'll get too much heat. I planted mine on the south side of the house, which has a brick wall, and it pretty well baked it to death. It did well until about mid-june, then downhill from there. One of those things us duplex dwellers have to deal with - if'n you want food, you've got to make it look like landscaping....
