Cheers, Doug in BC who do not drink beer of any kind after getting deathly ill from a skunky draft eons ago whilst still a teener! I remember such comments when my Canadian relatives visited us here in sunny SoCal years (many years) ago; and it was true, American beers generally sucked...at least those made in or imported into California. By law, the state of California used to restrict the allowed percent of alcohol in beer. Anything over 3.5% had to be labelled ale or malt liquor. There were a few American pale ales available, but they generally got lumped in with Malt liquor with all it's "skid row" connotations. This made quality ales kinda hard to sucessfully market here in California. The law has since been relaxed and micro breweries making some excellent beers have sprung up all over San Diego County. I've tried introducing my relatives to some of the local brews but they find them too strong. They prefer Coors or Corona Light...with the lime. -- Rich McCormack (Poway, CA) macknet@pacbell.net Who is Rich McCormack? Find out at... http://home.pacbell.net/macknet/
