It's worth adding that, if my students are any measure, the average 
Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Sri Lankan college student speaks English 
considerably better than does his American counterpart.

And, while I'm at it, anyone have a recipe or twelve for real Sri Lankan 
curries?
