This morning I had the pleasure of a breakfast in a Waffle House restaurant across the parking lot from my hotel. I thought I would actually eat some food before heading off to train again. Unfortunately the chef ignored my order when it was called, and disappeared instead. My server actually went outside to see if he had left. He came back after a few minutes, saying "I heard you call me four times in the bathroom." So, I had some time to read anyting within grasp, and I found a caddy with various condiments. Among them was, I kid you not, Casa de Waffle, a private-label picante sauce (medium version). I tried some with my eggs and hash browns, but it had too much vinegar and sugar for that application. It might grill well on to chicken or shrimp. When products like the Pace line are called "rich" or "chunky" this might be the baseline they compare themselves against. In contrast, in yesterday's wanderings, I got a jar of peach salsa from Johnson's Peaches of Candor NC, and I like it. This is the first peach/tomato salsa I've tried, and now I understand the appeal. - A apprentice Tarheel _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
