I had a plan to share "Eat The Eat" (the Food Network show, for those who don't know) with everyone, but it didn't quite work out. For awhile now, I have had a digital camcorder and a computer fast enough to edit digital video, but just didn't have the $45 cable needed to bring the two together. Since I had never really worked with video, I had no idea how much space it could take up. I finally broke down and bought the cable. So .... The other night, I hooked the satellite (digital signal) into the camcorder and recorded "Eat The Heat." After transferring the video to the computer, I ended up with six files that weighed in at more than 2.5 GBs combined. (The six files represent the segments between commercials ... I took out the commercials.) My original plan was to upload all of it to a Web server and let anybody and everybody download the files. 2.5 GB wouldn't work. Then learned that MPEGs are smaller than AVIs ... without sacrificing too much quality, I was able to get the six files down to 640 MB. Still too big for Plan A. BUT ... Plan B might work. I can burn the files onto CDs and ship 'em out to just about anywhere in the U.S. for about $3.00. This would cover just the cost of the CD and shipping. I'm not trying to make any money on this, but at the same time, I can't just give these away. If anybody out the U.S. is interested, I'd have to check on shipping for individual locations. Anyway, if you're interested, email off-list and we'll discuss details. Brad
