Saturday Dad and I stopped at Meadow View Farm and Bowers Inn after my didjeridoo workshop in West Reading, PA. Unfortunately, I could not get Dad out of the car to see the Farm. I was very surprised to see an empty, but plowed field where the chiles should be. I think that whatever the Farm doesn't sell by a certain date probably goes out in the field. I forgot to check the perennials but I went through the greenhouses. First I grabbed two pretty red and white striped Salvias. The first greenhouse is for herbs. I got two Lemon Grass plants (only a couple more remain for sale). I also got one lemon and one lime basil. There were two greenhouses of Chiles. Loads of species I had not heard of. Sold out were the Chocolate Habs. So I had to settle for Cappuccino Hab and Jamaican Hot Chocolate. In addition, I got a Lemon Drop and a Fatali. There were a couple kinds with purple leaves so I decided to try one. The one I chose was a De Arbol. I also got a bunch of dried chile peppers on stalks. They are in a vase in the bathroom, next to the chile soaps. In the last greenhouse were the flowers. Bowers Inn only had some unknown red sauce and pickled jalapenos. I picked up a bag of Bickel's Jalapeno Flavored Potato Chips while in Reading. Not much heat, pretty salty but not greasy. A couple Red Savina seedlings are barely surviving. Several of the older chiles are suddenly sprouting like crazy. One of my African Violets died. Crown rot or someone dropped something on it. Yours in heat Karen
