Yes, the hotluck was a wonderful experience. Many thanks to Renee for all her efforts in putting on a fantastic event. Many more thanks for meeting Chery and I at the airport and the (semi)-impromptu mini hotluck warmup event lunch at the Mexican market with green. When we woke up at the hotel that morning and saw the rain coming down, lightning striking and heard thunder booming we could almost hear Renee's heart breaking across town. But El Grande saw fit to part the clouds and bring forth great sunshine (and humidity) for the hotluck. As a side note, the rain helped make the waterfall at Minnehaha Park (the hotluck location) a truly spectacular sight. The food was great, the people were great, everything was great. Well, not quite everything was completely great. While my by-now-nearly-infamous Spam Jerky went over well (I finally got the sugar/salt ratio right), my foray into the world of vegetarian jerky still needs a little work. It looked ok, and tasted ok (maybe a little salty) but the texture..... The first two or three chews, it holds up. But then it reverts, rather quickly (some (actually most) would say disgustingly) to the consistancy of tofu. I think I'll try again with TVP. Scott... Back from Minnesota... KCK
