<<De-lurking> <Hi all, < <I have an abundance of red savina habs this year. I have 10 plants and the <other day I picked about 70 red ripe habs off the plants with many more <just starting to ripen. Anyway, I went to the grocery store to pick up some <items to make hot sauce and went to the produce section and saw they had <some regular habs for sale in plastic containers. There were 5 habs per <container and they were half the size of the red savinas from my garden. <They wanted 4 dollars for 5 scrawney little habs Out of the shadows Around here (Northwest Alabama) I can usually find decent, if smallish habs for $2.50 to $3.00 per pound in bulk, and can always find the prepackaged habs in styrofoam for about the same price for a couple of ounces. Just harvested a couple of pounds of habs and one RS hab. The RS hab plants have been a terrible disappointment for me, half a dozen plants that are the size of small shrubs and one pepper so far... heat isn't that great, either. Maybe next year will be better, this is, after all, my first attempt at growing habs. back to the shadows... doug in AL
