I just walked the chile fields for the first time since they've been
planted and can offer up a report.

Had a large amount of die-off on the 'odd ball stuff'. As they were a
couple of feet tall when transplanted, I figured I'd lose some but
wasn't quite ready to lose almost 25% of them. Still, as long as there
are less than 100 people show up, everyone should be able to get a few
pounds of something. Tabascos are doing well as are the Puriras, Filus
Blue, largo Purple, mutant Jalapenos, Tepins, Datils, and Cherry Hots,
among others.

I gotta tell you though, the Savina(tm) is going to be in VERY high
demand. I have fielded quite a few phone calls from some BIG names in
the business who are quite desparate for them. I'll probably need
everyone I can get my hands on. I don't as yet forsee any harvest
restrictions on them but please be considerate. You'll see John Hard
(CaJohn) running through the fields crying over every last Savina(tm)
that leaves the field but he should get over it ;-)

Anyway, on to the stuff that you were really expecting to find in this
post :-)

Open Fields dates: October 6th & 7th, though some notables (Rael, Tony
Flynn from New Zealand, et al) are arriving on the 5th.

Places to stay: The nearest town is Martinsville, though Bloomington &
Indianapolis are only a half-hour drive or less away. Camping is
primitive and encouraged. The weather cannot be predicted. It can be
anything from low 80's and sunny to low 40's and raining (like last
year). It can also change in a heck of a hurry. We've also had freezes
as early as Sept 16th so there is also the chance that there won't be
anything there come October. Obviously, there are no guarantees.

Directions and rules will be posted in late September, unless someone
absolutely MUST have them beforehand. My landlord does not permit this
invitation to be extended to 'locals'. E-mail me off list if you have
any doubts or need an explanation. Invitations are extended to all on
this list.

Cost: ZERO, zilch, nada, nothing. Purchase of an open fields poster is
appreciated though to help pay for the tent and port-a-lets. Info on
purchasing them is at http://www.wildpepper.com/spacepodesy.html
All attending will receive a gift box of goodies as my thank you for
attending.

Notes: As this is not my land, the rules of engagement will be strictly
enforced. Nothing anyone shouldn't be able to live with- no excessive
noise, no driving anywhere other than where noted, no picking anything
other than chiles, etc.

It looks like there are going to be over a hundred people attending this
thing. My landlord is going to absolutely FREAK OUT when he sees the
size this thing has attained. If we stand ANY chance of continuing
this, I will need everyones cooperation.

Have I left anything out? More later.
