Last night I still had some heat left in the charcoal after I grilled burgers. So I made a little skewer of sweet and hot banana peppers (of course, I couldn't tell which was which by looking) and roasted them over the coals. This morning I skinned and seeded them, and cut them into little pieces about the size of a pimento in a green olive. I added a few good shakes of garlic salt, and a pinch of herbes de provence. I also put in a very small amount of smoked hab powder. I stirred this into a small tub of softened cream cheese. The result? Well, if you're going to walk around the office with bad breath, you should at least enjoy getting it. The heat is nice, a little more than moderate. The garlic flavor is there, but this would definitely be better if I had roasted a few cloves along with the peppers. I love the way the mixed herb flavor comes in from the side, it takes a moment to appreciate it. Tony Flynn, if you read this, drop me a line while you are still in Ohio. I'm only about 50 miles away from you. If you're allowed to drink beer, I'll fill some growlers at Miami Trail in Xenia and bring them by. - A _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
