I dragged my DH on a "Food Safari" today. He had the day off from work, Trev had the day off from school (it was closed for some lame reason) and I needed to go to the supermarket. First we went to the new one, called Weis. It is a wonderful supermarket. They had the usual chiles - thai's, banana peppers and jalapenos. They also sell Grandma Renfro's salsas. Haven't tried them yet but was wondering if they are any good. I've seen them on the net. Was supposed to get a free sample a few years ago and it never showed up. What's new? On to Odd Job. Bought some Casa something or other mixed olives that had chiles in it. Can't wait to try it on a muffaletta. They were also selling a few kinds of hot sauce, mainly Louisiana types. Swamp something or other. Last time I was there I also saw a bottle of Chef Paul's and didn't buy it. Then to Shoprite. The usual stuff there but they also sell El Paso Chile Company salsas. Didn't buy any but had one other stop Went to the farmers market. There I saw something interesting. I never buy jalapenos, especially when I have 8 kinds of chiles in the backyard. Didn't this time either but still it was interesting. They had several kinds of chiles. Thai's, Banana Peppers, Poblanos and....Jalapenos. But not just any ordinary jals. They were HUGE. And RIPE. I have a question for those who grow Biker Billy Jal's. Are they huge? If so, that is what these were. They were HUGE. I actually was tempted to buy some. Didn't. DH would've killed me after dragging him around all day. Plus we spent quite a bit of $$$. Are the Biker Billy jals huge? And do they have good heat along with the great jal flavor? Curious. I might have to go back to the farmers market. RisaG MK Independent Beauty Consultant mailto: radiorlg@home.com Risa's Food Service http://www.geocities.com/radiorlg Updated 9/7/01
