Hey CH's I've posted this "recipe" for my Grandpa's bug killer before, but with all the insect problem postings, I thought I'd put it out there again. It works incredibly well, but must be reapplied when it is washed off by rain, waterings, or every two weeks or so. I used it weekly in Florida with no ill effect to any of my chiles, (about 15-40 plants at any given time). Soak 1 pouch chewing tobacco in 1 quart hot water overnight, meanwhile boil 1/2 cup each dillweed and dried chiles in 2 quarts water for 15 minutes or so. Add all cooled and STRAINED ingredients to a gallon jug with 1 Tbsp. liquid soap (not anti-bacterial or detergent, just plain soap). Top off jug to make 1 gallon. For use on plants, dilute at a 2:1 ratio (1 cup mix to 2 cups water). For all of you worried about the dreaded "TMV", go ahead and boil the tobacco with the chile/dill mixture if it will ease your mind. (Please no TMV postings! or I'll bring back the botchulee botchula la la la topic!) Neither my Grandpa nor I have ever had a problem.... and he has been using this recipe for well over 50 years! My wife got one of my Christmas presents this week- a huge box of hot sauces, hot snacks and other hot treats....Now I have to wait until Christmas morning to get into it. What torture to see that box in the corner still sealed shut and knowing what is in it for the most part. A salute to our Veterans out there- Thanks for fighting for Liberty!
