Hi everyone, thought you would like to know that you can still pick hot peppers at Meadow View Farm,371 Bowers Road,Kutztown,Pa 19530.They are open M-Sat.closed Sunday. Here it is,November 16,and the delightful Mr. James Weaver showed us hundreds of hot chili plants in a greenhouse. Each was loaded. We picked yellow lemon drops, red caribbean, chocolate habs, puiThe rria, chicken hearts and there were 30 other kinds. They will be there until it really freezes so plan on a wonderfully hot pepper trip.We tasted a unique hot pepper fruit vinegar(RisaG and Raul, you would like this)They are offering it in flavors(lime is outstanding!lemon, apple, coconut, strawberry, raspberry, plum(I can't wait to try tomorrow). Each bottle has birds eye peppers, the same type my dad picked in the jungles of New Guinea while in the AirForce to put in vinegar to flavor the military food.Hot peppers are an education and you meet some fine individuals who are happy to teach.I was in awe when Mr.Weaver showed us his heirloom Indian corn collection.I never knew such colors existed.I especially liked the Grandmothers corn, also called Pod corn from which all corn evolved. It's a short ear with the ear covered in tiny corn husks, its not bare like a kernel of todays corn but has a white paperlike shell on each kernel.WOW.Also the rare ear of GREEN corn was interesting , it is very hard to find and very special to the Spanish culture.Mr.Weaver has so many interesting stories about everything. We wanted to meet him at the chili pepper days in September but he was always sought after. He has heirloom pumpkins now and heirloom tomatoes 40-50 kinds?back in Sept. Also picked up 2 quarts of smoked yellow lemon drop peppers for grinding. The best day again. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
