I had some locally grown sourced from Brasil and spread the seed around I think I have one growing in the front yard, no flowers that i have seen yet but my mother has 2 growing at Kiama NSW. Funny she has troubles with Fruit Fly on these but I have never had this problem (with Chiles that is) Fejoas only lasted 3 years before I decided to cut the tree out. These are Roma Tomato sized about 40 mm x 70mm. the plant grows like a vine.. On another topic I have finally found a spot in my yard for Tepins and am the proud father of about 30 flowers and small fruit on a 2 year old plant. It probably cost me 15 plants that died in other locations. My mother has a 2 yr old plant that is twice the size of mine with more fruit but this has no problems with the fruit fly just birds. As I lost 143 bunches of grapes to birds in my back courtyard over Xmas when no one was home/ The dog does a good job normally. I think I will have to net the Tepins.. Due to a dry year we are now on level 5 water restrictions here in Coffs Harbour with only Bucket watering of Gardens allowed. Our Dam is below 50% capacity. This makes it hard to keep up with watering the Chiles and I have been forced to cut back on my varieties. With temps over late december and January ranging from lows of 27 degrees Centigrade to highs of 44 degress Centigrade the transpiration rate has meant that plants not watered for 3-4 days have generally looked pretty sick and died. A local Agri-Biz growing Bluberries for Export (140 tonnes last year) had Bushfires around the property and were saved by the local bushfire Brigades (all Volunteers) but they were distracted by the fires and did not up the watering Schedule for the plants, consequently the bluberries are now like peppercorns and useless as export/ Note for Tony FLynn who saw the Fields ( they are bigger than what we saw as I went down a few bush tracks and found more fields..
