Rodney, I started a few "Christmas" pepper seeds this winter that I received from Miss Dewi. One of the three that I started had a (blatantly) different stem hue (already noticeably purplish at even 5cm!). Although the leaves and plant structures are similar, while the "normal" ones had white flowers and initially cream colored peppers, the odd one had purple flowers and shorter purple peppers! Beautiful plant, but I have no idea "who the father was"! Will save some seeds, for sure, just out of curiosity. Remember: pollen is very, very, very, very small... and even nunneries feel the effects of a strong breeze. I have a question to put forth . One of the varieties I am growing this year are serranos . Nothing special but a delicious variety none the less. Of the 9 seedlings 1 of them is purple , completely purple. It is the same shape, leaf structure and general size of it`s companions yet even as it gets larger the color remains the same. I have nicknamed it Barney you know after the childrens dinosaur . Is this a result of cross polination ? Has anyone else seen this ?
