To what others have already said, I can add a few things... For fresh peppers, your best quick-n-easy options are the Star/Shaw's Market at Porter Square, and the Bread And Circus at Fresh Pond mall. Don't get your hopes up. You'll usually find jalapenos, serranos, and some variety of scotch bonnet or habanero. Beyond that, you've got a 50/50 chance of finding poblanos, and a small chance of finding some more exotic variety. Of the two stores, B-and-C is slightly more likely to have good stuff, though its prices are rather higher than Star's. And, since you're from Texas, I should probably mention that Star stocks Rotel. For tortillas (and hispanic products in general), you want to either go to Market Basket near Union Square, or to one of the smaller markets thereabouts. (THere are other places, which you'll find on your own, I'm sure.) For masa......we got a problem there. I've heard of a tortilleria in Chelsea that will sell it. There are a couple of taquerias that, if your Spanish is up to it, will sell you some out the back door.... Beyond that, I can only add an assenting nod to what other folks have already said. --d in Somerville (sometimes referred to as Baja Cambridge) _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
