On my lunch hour today, I stopped for the first time at an Indian grocery I noticed (Cameron, it's in the little strip mall on the hill along Hayden Run, near Bravo.) This one looked fairly well stocked, and among the various dried mysteries I found "white chilli" pods. They're Ruchi brand from India. The lable does not list any other ingredient. They seem to have been fried; they have the color and appearance of pork rinds. They are about as big as my smallest finger. They are very heavily salted, and it seems there are some other spice flavors in there, too. The heat is worth at least a 5 out of 10, and a bit slow to emerge because the salt rounds it off. Has anyone heard of these things? How do people use them? I'm thinking of reconstituting some of them to see what kind of sauce they can make. - A _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
