The Rocotos will have much thicker hairy leaves which are also darker green.. Pubscens = hairy. Additionally, Pubscens seeds are dark brown to black. These are the only seeds which look this way. The seeds are also a different shape from other peppers. Habaneros have seeds which are light tan like other pepper seeds. The only way to tell Capsicum Chinense from other peppers is by looking at the flowers and/or being a Chilehead. With the exception of C. Pubescens, the other commercial cultivars look alike while growing until they produce fruit. I don't know what some of the wild varieties look like because I couldn't germinate them and keep them alive.
