Oh, so that means you didn't plant the pepper plant I so thoughtfully brought you? Sob! My feelings are hurt. ;-) Okay, I make fried green tomatoes, but as with most things I make, I have a method, not a recipe. Start with buttermilk. (You can add an egg, or some water, neither will hurt, but neither are necessary.) Add flour or cornmeal until you get a "thin pankcake batter" consistency. Add some fresh basil. Add some hot sauce or pepper powder. Salt, pepper, whatever to your own personal preference. Put the battter in the freezer until it is really cold. Get the oil really hot. (I use the old standby cast iron skillet-I know you have one or two of those!)Coat sliced green tomatoes in the batter. You can then dip in more cornmeal or flour, but I don't. Fry until batter is golden brown. (This will also make some awesome onion rings, fried zucchini, fried anything!)
