Erich,
I have a few years experience growing in pots & pails/opinions based on
experience, not gardening factoids. Do not separate plants now....root
disturbance will cause massive fruit reduction. Add lady bugs & praying
mantis to REALLY crowd the plant, but hopefully reduce predators. With the
size of your pot you may have reduced production but you'll have more fruit
from 3 undisturbed plants than trying to break up the family at this point.
I often grow a Red & Orange Hab in pails 3 to 4 gal. or bigger. Just as a
lark I went outside & took a count....2 planters 24"X24"X18"......4/8 gal..
pails....34/5 gal. pails...& 15 pots 1 to 2 gal. Planters have 4 plants
each....8 gal.. have 3....5 gal. have 1, 2, or 3 depending on cultivar..most
pots 1 but some contain 2.
Hope this helps,
PS Really wasn't a lark, wanted to know total....now have to count # of
plants.
