Well, I'll tell you what I'll do: After sending those recipes, I have been craving some eggplant, and decided to make some caponata. I'll "try my best" to find both a "male" and a "female" eggplant. I'll taste them side by side and let you know if one is bitterer than the other. This is, of course, assuming that I actually buy a male and a female. I never heard this before.
