I have a Ronco that my husband bought for me about 10 years ago. It wouldn't be my choice as it does not have a fan or thermostat and takes about 2 days to dry tomatoes thoroughly, but it works. Peppers take about 24 hours. I don't know where the chart is anymore and I just check the food often and pull off when dried, it should feel like leather or with herbs should be completely dry. I usually put the wetter the food you want to dry the closer to the bottom heating element. You also need to rotate the trays as the heating element does not go evenly around the bottom. You can adjust the grill on the top also to let out more moisture or if you are drying say herbs, close it in to keep in the heat. I'm looking to replace it with a better unit with a fan and a thermostat. Anyone have any suggestions? Karen Here are my questions: > > 1. Does anyone have any idea as to the brand of this machine? > > 2. Are there charts available as to how long it takes to dehyrdrate > different types of fruits, chiles, etc.? > > 3. Does it matter which trays I use for different types of foods? > > Thanks. As always, you rock! > Based on your description of the dome and color, I'd say it was a Ronco. Check out good old Ron--"It slices! It dices! And that's not all, if you order now I'll throw in my hemorrhoid cure free!"--Popeil at: http://shop.ronco.com/jump/dehydrator/
