Hi all thanks to everyone who replied about the hot bed. I have gone with a simple raised garden, rather than a hot bed. I have had this week off work, and decided that the spare wood under the house needed to be used, so a few hours later I had a 1.5m x 3m garden in place. To get maximum return from this I intend to plant my chillies at 25cm (10") spacing giving me a total of 91 plants - Anchos, Hot Jals, Red Habs, Orange Habs, Tabascos, Rocotos, Scotch Bonnets and Bird's Eyes (a.k.a Piri Piri by the sounds of it). Boy am I looking forward to my crop! Soooo, with all those Hot Jals I thought I would try making chipotles. Who would like to advise me on a home made smoker for this? I thought of making some kind of smoke box connected to a gas-fired hot plate, but then thought I could just raise the top of my existing BBQ and put a metal skirt around the middle to contain the smoke. Any ideas / advice most welcome. Thanks in advance... Steve in New Zealand.
