Speaking of open fields.... in order to try and ensure that there will be one, I just spent 8 hours in them trying to get everything watered. You have a new appreciation for just how big 3/4 of an acre is when you have to try and hand water it! :-) I've got about another 12 hours of watering and weeding to do yet to make sure they are in decent shape for the event. Things are looking pretty good. Again, there isn't a whole lot of any one variety but there are a fair amount of chiles. 1/4 of the field is dedicated to habs (Red S, orange, red Caribbean). About the next most plentiful chile will be Purira, Bolivian Rainbow, New Mex, Tabasco, and Pasilla. There'll also be a fair number of mutant jalapenos in a small patch adjacent. Maps of the field indicating variety location will be available, courtesy of my landlord. I also talked at length with my landlord. I'll be trying to get a list of the stuff he has available up at the farm market, along with prices. I'd be more than happy to make a run up there to pick up orders should anyone feel the need to get some apples, apple cider, melons, pumpkins, etc. -Jim C Mild to Wild Setting 'slow mail' as of Friday Sept 6th.
