Here is my Bowers Report!! The festival this year was so much fun. When Karen, Mark & I got there, Doug was all set up with his smoker, Chip was making chili and the rest of the festival was going on for 2 hours already (at least). We got a big welcome and then Mark & Karen went off to look at the vendors. Mark lost Karen after only a couple of minutes and we were looking for her for a long time after that (she had gone to Weavers fields and bought her pumpkin and a few other goodies). I helped Doug out and I cut up the Lemon Drop peppers for the Rum drinks. No gloves! Then I took my once over of the vendors. After I returned, Doug's wife and kids showed up. We stood around and ate sausage (oh that sausage was sooooooooo good), the bikers jamabalaya (Thanks Doug for getting me a pot ful), and all the goodies that Jeff Porter and other chile-heads brought. The jalapenos stuffed with crab were great (thanks to Jeff & his wife), the salsa from the mystery chile-head was amazing, the devilled eggs were great (but not hot enough) from another mystery chile-head. All great. The Lemon Drop Rum was soo good too. I had TOO much. The Weaver Fields were great also. I picked several varieties of chiles. I also got tons of heirloom tomatoes. Wow. I wimply tasted a Wild Brazilian. I have another here at the house though and will eat it the right way. Bravely. They are powerful chiles. I could've bought a plant at Bowers for $20 but felt I had enough chiles already. I got the Weaver Peach Hab Jelly (yeah), and a bag full of Orange Thai chiles and Lemon Drop chiles (yes, Paul, I'll send you a couple) and some smoked chocolate hab powder. The smoked lemon drop powder was sold out (except in huge jars). The dinner at the Bowers Hotel was fun. Thanks to Doug for driving me home. You are still the king!! (Doug lost his Jalapeno Eating Contest to a man named Slim but he was a great sport about it) I'm going to cook my habanero sausage today. I'll have to freeze most of it after that though. I'll probably be the only one eating it. Had a great time. Thanks to all to make it that way. Love, RisaG __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
