I didn't find any advantage over just picking, tossing them in a grated garden tray and let them finish up in a cool spot out of the sun. Disadvantage was they brought a lot of aphids inside. 5 chiletin plants done this way, over 100 fruit per plant, everyone rotted before ripening. Just my experience. L.B.
