Thanks to those that sent ketchup recipes -- My dear wife said that the recipe needed to be entered as "Evil' Ketchup" :-) I may have gotten carried away with the peppers, put in about 1 cup chopped jalapenos and about 2/3 cup others (I don't know what they are, they came from a Bangladeshi friend). They grow straigth up and turn yellow and then to red when they ripen. Good earthy flavor and quite hot. Even threw in some cayennes just for fun. Cooked the peppers and onions in vinegar and then sieved them through a food mill and added to resulting glop to tomato juice and spices, cooked it down and put it in jars. My non-chile head son said it was good - but too hot. He took some to school today for hamburgers, said everyone wanted some, but those that tried it thought it was too hot and couldn't eat it. (And he is the non-chile-head kid!) The principal tried it and said it was good. Another question -- I picked the remaining jalapenos tonight, has anyone made jalapeno refirgerator pickles like can be made with cucumbers. I would like to try a batch with onions, etc. Any recipes out there wouild be appreciated. Nels in ND Where we are expecting our first frost tonight.
