Hi everybody, Just returned (yesterday) from Open Fields and just wanted to say what a terrific time we had. Only took home about a pound of peppers, but took lots of pictures, tried lots of food, and met lots of old friends (as well as making new ones). Thanks again to Saint Jim (How else can he be described?) for putting up with us for an entire weekend and for hosting such a unique (probably the only one of its kind in the world) event. There were a few disappointments this year: NO, the branding iron did not contact human flesh, and NO there were no nubile chile maidens frolicking among the plants, and NO, El Grande did not arise from the fields and devour his followers alive. Oh well, there's always next year! The Spam Jerky was EXTRA good this year (It almost tasted like meat!). Thanks Scott for bring such a delicacy to light. Rael, it was a pleasure seeing you again this year, although I hardly recognized you Sunday morning without the layer of frost encasing your body. I also had the great pleasure of visiting with Miss Dewi, a most excellent chilehead ambassador from across the ocean. And not bad to look at across a campfire either ;) To everyone else, Thanks for your hospitality, please be sure to enjoy the goodies I brought, as I know I will enjoy those given to me. Some of them even lasted until I got home (You can get pretty hungry during a 5 hour drive after all). At some point in the next week, probably next Monday, I will be posting photos of the 2002 Open Fields event on my website, http://ChileHeadsOnline.com . I'll post a quick note when that's up and running. I have been working on a list of people who attended so that (nearly) every photo will be labelled with who is in it. I would, of course, like to get the names right. As my memory for names is terrible, I am asking anyone who attended to look over the following list and make corrections, additions, and so on. Responding Off-list is probably the best idea. Please don't be offended if I forgot, misspelled, or got your name wrong, don't remember seeing you, or missed you completely. There was much commotion with all the comings and goings and it was hard to meet everyone. I may not remember names very well, but your faces are still with me (Of course in some cases that may be a difficult cross to bear). Thanks again for your help with this.
