Hard freeze predicted for this week, so I used the weekend to harvest all that was left. Have green habs in a brown paper bag in the dark, and chiltepins on the bush hanging upside down. Both have started ripening nicely since I cut them down yesterday. Now, does anyone know the physiology of this? They haven't been doing much on the vine, why do they immediately start to change once they are cut down? Will one way produce superior results over the other (in-the-bag vs hanging). And kind of OT, but in-the-bag also works well for tomatoes, how about the 20 lbs of grapes I also had to cut down today? Only about a third of them ripe, will the rest of them ripen up like the peppers and tomatoes? If not, anybody got any ideas for them? Will green grapes make good raisins if I throw them in the dehydrator? Three more months and we can start again!! Fred the habaneronut
