The fact that it takes on the flavor of what it's cooked with is what led me to try making a vegetarian type of jerky. If you use it in a recipe, one where the extended chewing that a jerky needs is not required, the results can be quite good. I just don't know any of the recipes and was trying to keep other ChileHeads from making the same mistake I made. I did try using some textured vegetable protein (TVP) to try and get a better (read less disgusting) mouthfeel, but I never had any success and abandoned the project. TVP, at least the varieties I tried, doesn't absorb the chile flavors as well as the tofu did. Scott... KCK
