Matt, When I had my son, some 19 years ago, I wasn't eating heat at quite the level I do now. However, chipotles were regularly on my table, as were jalapenos and other milder varieties. It never occurred to me to stop eating them while breast feeding, and I don't recall any intense adverse reactions at all. My best suggestion would be for your wife to continue her regular diet. If a reaction occurs, then change the diet. Here's a thought... what if, like a mother passes on some of her immunities temporarily, she also passes along her chileheadedness, her tolerance for heat? That could be one firecracker baby...
