Hi fellow CH's After being laid off, I have not been able to find a job in my "chosen" profession (I'm a database admin, btw). I believe that, for the time being, this field is laying on the field of battle, bleeding profusely. I've come to the conclusion that a career change is necessary, and I'm looking at opening a small store, handling spices, chiles, and accessories (books, equipment, etc.) in the Atlanta, Ga area. I've found a location that has a great deal of foot traffic, in a reasonably well-to-do area. The shopping center tends to cater to "soccer moms", mostly younger with two-three screaming offspring in tow. This area is also surrounded by fairly large suburban homesites. Tossing this out into the audience, since a goodly number of you are successful (semi-successful?) businessmen/women, can you give me some hints/warnings/ideas about what I'm getting into? I've been in sales before, and I'm relatively familiar with marketing concepts. I intend to put a large proportion of my investment in advertising initially - together with a fairly large inventory. Since I'm a computer geek, I'll set up a website of course.. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated - if I don't do this, that opportunity as a ditch-digger is lookin' REAL good..
